On the waterfront

Pelicans, the Broadwater and a little gelato wonder

Coming to see the pelicans near Charis Seafoods? It’s worth building the rest of the Labrador waterfront into the trip while you’re here.

The pelicans gather on the waterfront near Charis Seafoods and Ian Dipple Lagoon, at the northern end of the Labrador foreshore.

Check the time before you drive

We’re deliberately not printing a feeding time here. The sources we can find disagree with each other, and the arrangements are Charis Seafoods’ to set and change, not ours to publish. Check with Charis directly before you travel — especially if you’re coming any distance for it.

We’re also not connected to the feeding in any way. This is just a guide to the area we’re in.

Make an afternoon of it

The foreshore runs south from there along Marine Parade, past Harley Park and on towards us at Aqua. It’s flat the whole way and the water is beside you for most of it.

Gelato, when we’re open

This is the part worth checking before you plan around it: the pelicans and our opening hours don’t always line up. We’re closed Mondays, and on weekdays we don’t open until the afternoon — so a weekday feeding and a gelato afterwards may not work. Weekends are easier.

The badge above shows whether we’re open right now, on Brisbane time.
