We want this site to work for everyone who wants a gelato. This page says what we’ve actually done about that, rather than claiming a standard we haven’t had independently tested.
What’s built in
Colour and contrast are checked by the build, not by eye. Every colour combination in every theme is measured automatically each time the site is rebuilt, and the build fails if any of them falls below its threshold. That covers the light and dark themes equally.
It works without JavaScript. The opening hours, the cabinet, the flavour filters and the serve sizes are all built into the page itself. If scripts are blocked or fail, you still get the content.
Keyboard and screen reader. There’s a skip link to jump past the navigation, visible focus outlines on everything you can interact with, text labels for controls that are only icons, and the page declares its language.
Reduced motion is respected. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animations don’t run.
Tap targets. Controls are sized to be hit comfortably on a phone rather than squeezed to look tidy.
Nothing follows you around. No cookies, no forms, no advertising trackers. We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects nothing that identifies you; our privacy policy says exactly what that means. The map on our Visit page loads only if you tap it.
What we haven’t done
We haven’t had an independent accessibility audit, so we’re not claiming conformance with a particular standard. The checks above are ours, and they’re automated rather than human-tested.
If something doesn’t work
Tell us and we’ll fix it. Email [email protected] or call 0452 298 669 — and if it’s easier to just tell us in the shop, that works too.
If you want something from this site and can’t get at it, we’d rather you rang us than gave up. We’ll read you the flavours.
