By the Broadwater

A waterfront walk, with a little wonder along the way

The Labrador Broadwater at your own pace: a foreshore stroll, a stop at a park, or an afternoon of both.

We’re at the Aqua Complex on Marine Parade, roughly in the middle of it all, which makes us an easy thing to build into the walk rather than a separate trip.

The Marine Parade foreshore

The waterfront route along Marine Parade is described in local walking guides as the Marine Parade Foreshore Walk. You can take a short stretch of it or make a long outing of it, with parks and waterfront stops along the way.

We haven’t published a distance or a walking time for any of the routes below, because we haven’t measured them between the exact points we’d be naming. The directions buttons hand you straight to Google, which will.

Len Fox Park

The southern end of the Labrador foreshore. An easy park stop, then follow the water north towards Aqua.

Harley Park and Ian Dipple Lagoon

North of us. Harley Park and the Ian Dipple Lagoon waterfront make another stop on a Broadwater outing — and it’s the same stretch where the pelicans gather near Charis Seafoods.

Quota Park

Further north again, towards Biggera Waters. Worth it if you want a longer outing; pick the section of foreshore that suits your afternoon.

Facilities, and what we’re not going to guess

Which parks have toilets, shade, seating, playgrounds, barbecues, taps or parking varies along the foreshore, and we’d rather send you somewhere accurate than somewhere convenient. Check the City of Gold Coast’s park listings before you count on a particular facility.

Same for dogs: rules differ between sections of the foreshore, and the published sources disagree with each other. Check the council’s current dog-area map and the signs on the day.

Walking with kids

The foreshore is flat and sheltered, which is the main thing. Mini scoops help at our end of it — a Bambino is a genuine kid-sized serve rather than an adult scoop handed to a five-year-old.

Gelato with kids

Finish with your favourite flavours

A few mini scoops, a sorbet if it’s warm, or a take-home tub for later. We’re at Shop 14, on the Imperial Parade side of Aqua.

On the water rather than beside it? Gelato for boaties covers a stop from the boat.
